Curriculum

Week 1 – Media Foundations & News Basics
Participants are introduced to the role of media in society and the responsibilities of journalists. They learn to distinguish between traditional and digital media, practice reading and presenting short texts on camera, and understand what makes news “news.” By the end of the week, they can write and deliver short news pieces and gain confidence in their first on-camera introductions.

Week 2 – Anchoring & Production Skills
The focus shifts to the news anchor as both reader and influencer. Students practice delivering neutral vs. persuasive news openings, supported by video analysis of professional anchors. They then move behind the camera to study the TV program production cycle, draft rundowns, and simulate production meetings. The week builds their ability to coordinate with production teams and present program concepts effectively.

Week 3 – Field Reporting & Professional Delivery
Learners explore the roles of producers and field reporters, working on breaking news coverage, live coordination, and writing concise reports under time pressure. They practice different reporting formats such as the news report, feature, and as-live segment, with intensive on-camera delivery. The course concludes with a final studio assessment, testing their interviewing, presentation, and professional on-air competence.
