Course Overview

This five-day professional training course provides a strong scientific foundation in Trauma, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET). Participants will explore the psychological, emotional, physical, and neurobiological effects of trauma, as well as evidence-based approaches for assessment and intervention.

The course combines theoretical knowledge with practical training, including PTSD assessment, psychoeducation, Lifeline techniques, narration, and anti-dissociation techniques. Through practical exercises and small-group activities, participants will develop a deeper understanding of how to work effectively with individuals who have experienced trauma, including survivors of war, displacement, torture, domestic violence, child abuse, and natural disasters.

By the end of the course, participants will have developed a stronger foundation for professional practice and further academic development in trauma-related fields.

Day 1: Introduction to Trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  1. The concept of trauma and its history
  2. Responses to trauma
  3. Introduction to PTSD and Complex PTSD
  4. Types of dissociation in PTSD

Day 2: Assessment and Risk Factors

  1. Scientific assessment tools for PTSD
  2. Practical training in diagnosis in small groups
  3. Classical and Operant Conditioning
  4. Risk factors for developing PTSD

Day 3: Introduction to Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)

  1. The neurobiology of trauma and PTSD and their effects on the brain and body
  2. Introduction to Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)
  3. How to explain the NET process to patients
  4. Practical training in psychoeducation

Day 4: Lifeline

  1. Introduction to the Lifeline technique
  2. Practical Lifeline exercises in small groups
  3. Continued practical training on the Lifeline
  4. Step-by-step stages of narration

Day 5: Narration

  1. Comprehensive explanation of the Narration process
  2. Practical training on the Narration process in small groups
  3. Anti-dissociation techniques during NET
  4. Feedback, recommendations, and Q&A
